1959 Bia Roster

Bill Refakis is still working on compiling the 59 Eldorado Biarritz Survivor roster. Please help with photos, chassis/body tag numbers, and whatever history is known on any cars you may know of. Bill has about 100 left to track down, 20-30 in Europe.

Will the US financial crisis bring more Classic Cadillacs to Europe?

25. September 2008 by Lars Schenk

I guess in the long run this will bring more Classic Cadillacs to Europe. Especially Sweden. Why do I think so? I fear that the US$ will lose even more value and that the cars we all like so much will be picked up for low(er) prices…

What do you think? Discuss in the forum…

Introducing: a New Guy from Modesto, CA

24. September 2008 by Dr. Dave

I signed up here long ago but never posted.  I had the given password sent to me but had to redo it. I am sure I messed up somewhere! I will work to become adept at the mechanics of this site.

I would say that I am a preserver not necessarily a restorer. I have these year cars: 63, 66, 70, 75, 76, 77, 79, 80, 84. Yep, that is all of them.

I am also rebuilding a ‘51 engine. The heads have been repaired in the past and I would not mind finding some good ones, also looking for some 30 or 40 over pistons. I am in Modesto, CA.

1950 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan Floormats

20. September 2008 by czaronson

We are on the way to a full factory spec tier one restoration of this car. Its a great learning expirience. Something we overlooked in the beginning was that the car came with floor mats. Obviously we don’t have any to reference. I am looking for pictures of this floormat or possibly some that I can buy. But mostly I am curious about the emblem in the front. The car came with power windows which was somewhat unusual for this model so I guess I should have looked more carefully to see that the car actually came with front and back floor mats. The chrome has all be replated, the car has been stripped an repainted, and the interior is about to go in. HELP!!! No mats or none to reference.  my email  czaronson@aol.com

Motorama Reminisced

13. August 2008 by Lars Schenk

During the 1950’s, GM’s Motorama car show traveled around the U.S. displaying the most exquisite concept vehicles of the time. Vice President of Global Design Ed Welburn reminisces on visiting Motorama as a child and reveals his excitement on its upcoming presence at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

1956 Cadillac power trunk lid pull down

12. August 2008 by Lars Schenk

I repaired the electronic power trunk lid pulldown. Before it was put back into the car, the final test should make clear that the switches are working good and that no power is on the motor, when in closed or released position.
This video shows how it operates - the upper switch (used with the finger to make the test) is sensing if the lid was snaped in. The lower switch (connected to the voltometer) is sensing the position of the lift. If the lift is up (lid open) the switch is pressed down. If the lift is down (lid closed), the switch is pulled up. Both switches together are the "brain" of this device… Great ! And remember - this was 1956!

Cadillac DTS and STS Production Stops

9. August 2008 by Vinny

Well with the high price of gas it doesn’t surprise me at all that Cadillac is stopping production on these two models. According to a report on Bloomberg.com this will be the last year for these two models.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=aJm6owinYSDE&refer=home

I am guessing Cadillac will be pushing some sort of 6 cylinder CTS or something similar. I am sure sales have been lacking on these models since the price of oil started to skyrocket. It is a real shame, what line is next?

Cadillac needs a Restoration

3. July 2008 by Vinny

1968 Cadillac Calais

This is not the way a Cadillac is suppose to spend its final days. Up near Seattle Washington “Bud O” a Cadillaccountryclub member let me know about this poor Cadillac that needs some love.

I hope there is someone out there that can make this 1968 Cadillac look like it once did. It looks like it needs a full restoration.

“At first glance, I thought this car had been underwater, what with it’s myriad water-based lifeforms clinging to its seals and all. Heck, there are even visible signs of green slime inside the windshield.”

See more or get in touch with the owner here.

On another note drinking and driving doesn’t mix

With July 4th right around the corner I don’t have to tell you that people will make the mistake of going to a BBQ and having drinks and then getting into their car and driving. This is a story that will just make you say HuH and she did it in a Cadillac which makes matters worse.
